The Healthy Gimp – disability & spinal cord injury information
Practical information & motivation for persons with a spinal cord injury & other physical disabilities to achieve good health, success & self-determination.
Learning to function effectively with a spinal cord injury or other disability can sometimes be a lengthy learning experience.
This site provides tips and possible solutions to various problems a disabled person may encounter on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The goal is to help people with disabilities find solutions, success and happiness.
This site would be classified more as a self-help guide rather than, a who can help me guide. Explore and make things happen. By making things happen you can continue to move forward. If there is only one thing you learn: learn to push yourself, both physically and mentally. Move out of your comfort zone. Make that call about the job. Explore a new exercise program. Try that new mobility device. Learn what works for you. If you want something, ask.
If you can learn from other peoples’ mistakes and successes, you can save a lot of time. Find a mentor or somebody that you can discuss your ideas with. Do your best to be positive.
Take charge of your life and health, because if you don’t, who will?
Please remember, everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for you. If something works or does not, could be the result of physical, psychological or environmental differences.
It is not what happens to you that determines your fate but what you do about it. – author unknown
